Sakar Mountain

Would you like to walk up our mountain? Let’s take a look at Sakar Mountain. Head out from Tavaklı Village and drive towards the village of Çamoba before turning down a track that leads to the old village of Kayan. This partially deserted village, deep in the pine forest, is the starting point for a moderately easy walk to the summit of Sakar Mountain. The views from the top are spectacular, with Tavaklı Village and Alemsah below. In the distance, you can see the island of Bozcaada.

Kayan Koyu

To follow the route we took to the top of the mountain, start by heading out of Tavaklı village towards Belen. When the road forks, take the right-hand turn and follow the road towards Kösedere. This is a gravel road. Continue for 2–3 km, then turn left at the first dirt track you see. This will be the first and only left turn before reaching the village of Çamoba Köyü (not to be confused with the larger Çamoba near Geyikli). Be careful, as it’s easy to miss.

Follow the dirt road through the pine forest until you reach the small, abandoned village of Kayan, with its old, ruined stone houses. From here, you can park and continue on foot. Keep your eyes on the high point, and when you reach the crest of the hill, climb over a gate, cross a field, and walk through a section of pine forest before approaching the summit.

This video may help you follow the route. The walk from Kayan village is perfectly reasonable for a healthy person and typically takes around 30–45 minutes, depending on how leisurely you want to go.
