Hello, I am Cemil Özmen, the Muhtar of Tavaklı Village. I was born and raised in Tavaklı, and for many years I have been running the shop together with my father-in-law. I still continue this work today. We are gradually making improvements in our village and organizing community projects such as cleaning and arranging the cemetery, as well as events like the village charity feast held in June.
We are also creating a meeting room for women, and we have many other plans as well. Since our resources are limited, it will take time; however, we would be very grateful if you could volunteer to support village projects or make a donation. Thank you for your support.
In Turkish villages, the muhtar plays an essential role as the elected head of the local community. He is responsible for managing administrative matters, coordinating public services, and acting as the main link between villagers and government institutions. Tasks such as issuing residence documents, organising infrastructure needs, and overseeing local improvements fall under the muhtar’s duty.
Beyond official responsibilities, the muhtar is often seen as the community’s problem-solver and organiser. He helps coordinate village projects, supports social events, and brings residents together to address common needs. Because the position is rooted in close, everyday interaction with the community, a muhtar’s effectiveness depends greatly on trust, local knowledge, and a genuine commitment to improving village life.
